Rev.
Dan White
Pastor
Dan spoke on True Repentance, and based his message on Acts 17:29-31. We need to be busy about the Lord’s
business. Jesus came to stir our hearts
and prepare us for heaven. We need true
repentance in order to be ready to go to heaven. God has a day for each of us. True repentance helps us take care of the
rest of life. God’s prevenient grace was looking out for you before you ever
came to Him.
Repentance is not just breaking
off from one’s sins; all sin
needs to be taken care of. If a tree is
growing next to the foundation of a house, it’s not enough to cut off the part
that shows. In order to keep it from
cracking the foundation and ruining the whole house, you have to remove the
roots. True repentance gets rid of the
roots of sin.
Conviction in your heart means
you need more repentance. As the Holy
Spirit reveals sin in your life, you must repent (turn around, go in another direction) of it in contrition. Contrition is deep godly sorrow because of
sin. Put your own life in God’s hands.
Confession is necessary—it’s not
enough to just feel bad about sin. Peter
says “Repent and be converted.” (Acts 3:19) And when your sins have been forgiven and
wiped out, you are to confess Jesus Christ.
Tell others about Jesus. God
works when you work for Him.
