Rev.
Dan White
What
can Christians do in the world today?
They can be the church: help others, teach them. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 tells us some more things we
can do: pray and intercede for everyone, including those in authority, so we
can live peaceful and quiet lives in godliness and holiness. Paul was compelled to write these letters to
young preachers to help make them better preachers, teachers and leaders. Verse 1 requests prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving. Verse 2 tells us to live
peaceful quiet lives in godliness and holiness.
“Without holiness no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)
We
live in a time where the world is less Christian. Our President has said “America is not a Christian
nation.” We can know we are prepared for
heaven. Jesus said in John 14 “In my
Father’s house are many mansions. . .” and He has gone to prepare a place for
us.
Paul’s
first priority in the church is PRAYER.
If prayer is in decline, we are not accomplishing what we should. There is great power in prayer, and God has
promised to answer. (Jeremiah 33:3; John 16:23)
Prayer is the privilege and power of every saint. (Hebrews 4:16)
It
is God’s desire for all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the
truth. (1 Timothy 2:4) We need to pray
for our families and friends. The world
is more likely to respond to Christians who love and pray for them. Prayer is the most effective way to change
the world. We ought to be prayer warriors. We are to preach, teach, and live the
Christian life. Be a praying person and
a praying church.
