Update on Haiti from Rev. James Spruill through Pastor Kerry

Greetings HFCN Family:

I just hung up the phone after a call from Rev. James Spruill who is in the mountains of Haiti. He led a medical team there in the wake of the devastating earthquake. They are setting up make-shift clinics. Even though they have a team of 30 or so, with 6 doctors, today Brother James said they will have to turn away hundreds of people. He asked that we specifically pray that the Lord would multiply their efforts and medical supplies and food, as they are also feeding many around the clinics.

Brother James, through tears, told me of an eleven-year-old boy they treated yesterday. His mother was killed in the earthquake and his relatives have been abusive to him, so he had to bring himself to the site to be treated. James said the emotional devastation is as great or greater as the earthquake devastation.

So, please be in prayer specifically as Brother James requested. Today is their last day in the mountains; tomorrow they take the team to the epic center of the quake for two days. Whatever medical supplies they may have left over before leaving this weekend will be left with the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

There are many ways to give to Haiti, even through our local church efforts. However, if you would also like to make an above-and-beyond, sacrificial and/or generous donation to the Haiti Healing efforts directly through the ministry that Brother James and Mary Spruill pioneered in Haiti some 30 years ago and continue to nurture to this day, make a check payable to "I.A.M." memo: "Haiti Healing" and mail it directly to:
